Baume & Mercier Ref. 38260 White Gold Grey 'Mauboussin' Dial
Oh how I love vintage 18K gold Baume & Mercier.😌 These watches really are still great bang for buck. Most people would probably know this Ceinture shape from Cartier. However (with probably the same case maker) Baume & Mercier does it equally as well for way less money! Oh and the externals have the same 18K White Gold value.. This example was sold in 1974 by French jeweler and retailer 'Mauboussin', as stamped on the lower half of the dial. Many retailers or jewelers used to do this, with Tiffany & Co maybe being most popular. But that surely does not make this one less interesting. It is always nice to have the full story of a watch, especially with the papers still included.👀 There is also an inventory stamp from Mauboussin in the back, something the jewelers often did as well. I could have easily chosen to swap the dial because of the age on it, but it belongs to the history of this watch. I am sure someone will be able to appreciate it, just like me. 🫶🏻🫶🏻
